Notes for Nun/Engelthal Adelheid Langmann

Title: Nun/Engelthal

Adelheid Langmann, the widow after Gottfried der Teuffel (‘the Devil’)
had frequent visions while in the nunnery at Engelthal. Her mother,
Mechtilde, and several of her in-laws were also nuns here. Two of the
Ebners, Agnes and Christina, were nuns at Engelthal, and Geut Ebner’s
daughters, Geut (1340-49) and Elisabeth Pfinzing (1362), became
mothers superior at the convent. Adelheid wrote her ‘Offenbarungen’ and
‘Von der Gnaden Ueberlast’, religious scripts outlining her visions.
Copies, also in translation, exist at major libraries the world over. Her
writings are the works of a very religious but naive soul.
